André – Quality Control Agent
André is a multi-talented professional. Having trained in malting, brewing and butchery, he worked as a butcher for 18 years, launching his own agri-food brewery.
A motorbike accident in 2019 left him unable to work. After a long recovery, he came to work at Serviplast Industrie in 2023. This gave him the opportunity to train and demonstrate his skills in a brand-new role: as a Quality Control Agent.
His time as a business owner gives him a unique insight into his new role: ‘I really like the unique entrepreneurial approach the company takes, allowing people with disabilities to perform a job and integrate into the team. I’m really impressed with the products we make. We can be proud of our work.’
André’s work: essential to ensure the quality of plastic parts
André has a key role in monitoring and ensuring the quality of products throughout the production process.
Before production even begins, he inspects the materials and components that arrive. Only materials that meet quality standards are used in production. He ensures that all the parameters are correctly configured for the start of production.
André continuously monitors the quality of products throughout the production process. This includes regular checks to detect any defects or variations in quality. To do this, he uses a variety of special tools: 3D measuring machines (some of which require contact and some of which do not), callipers, comparators, spectrometers and more. These tools make it possible to accurately measure the dimensions of the products.
When production is finished, André performs a final inspection before the parts are shipped to ensure they satisfy the necessary quality criteria. Only high-quality parts are delivered to clients.
In addition to his technical duties, he also handles administrative formalities: traceability of products, certificates of compliance and updating any required quality documentation.
The goals of the Quality Control Agent
The Quality Control Agent has several key goals:
- satisfying clients’ requests by ensuring that the parts meet their requirements and the specified quality standards;
- ensuring the quality of products by performing rigorous inspections throughout the production process;
- implementing a continuous improvement plan by identifying areas for improvement and offering solutions.
André handles quality control at Serviplast Industrie thanks to his rigorous inspections, specialised tools and the implementation of a plan for continuous improvement.
